The new Fred Lin Design Studio site was built with the Codeigniter PHP framework. We decided to replace the Flash version with a dynamic and more web 2.0 version for convenience and accessibility.

The theme of the site was based on a strong background image together with semi translucent panels. The result was to achieve a slick, classy and slightly hi-tech look.

Portfolio works are presented via a jQuery slider seen both in the Main Page and Works page. As you can see in the image above, the jQuery slider allowed us to build and design a compact display showcase, without the use of Flash, which is entirely SEO friendly. jQuery/AJAX is a tool that we love to bits, and will continue to use in many of our projects, where complex animations isn’t necessary.

The news section of the site is presented via a blog section, where we will post articles and stuff from time to time in addition to news. I personally think that it is a great way to connect with the audience on a more personal level.

We now have a 2 services pages, one where we list the various services we offer and another that shows how we work and how we charge. I believe that this transparent model will help both client and us to have a better understanding of each other, and allow us to communicate better.

Lastly, we hope that you like this new design, the galactic explosion background was designed and created by myself, Fred Lin and is available for download in the subsequent post.
