We were commissioned to produce a flash banner that required a simulation of a person smoking a cigarette. It was for an event for a night spot in Shanghai. While smoke is very commonly used in web design, creating a realistic animation of a person smoking wasn't. After pondering for a second, we took up the challenge.

What we came up with was a psuedo realistic, but pretty elegant smoke effect that combined two techniques for simulating smoke. We refined the techniques into better Object Oriented actionscript, and implementing Greensock's TweenMax plugin.

The result was a highly configurable smoke effect via actionscript, and also highly reusable.
